10 more days to NDP, Arrival of new CSM, Possible posting to Trunk 2, Start of UIP, start of tekans
Arrival of my new CSM. MSG Goh G S.
This encik you cannot play with. On the first few days of his informal arrival he already fucked the whole company. People of impression of encik, would be a beer-belly, approaching late 40s for 50s.
YOU ARE WRONG.
My enick despite the age, is damn skinny and very regimental. After his arrival, he imposed many rules, which upsets even the lao jiaos. Because of his arrival, we had to clear the office for his desk. His desk had a glass cabinet, inside it were displays of medals, trophies, certificate and letter of appreciaitng. 1999 he was at 6 Signal Battalion, He got many medals and letters of appreciation due to his efforts in United Nations peace keeping. He got his JCC last year oct.
1) No sleeping during office hours, not even on the floor
2) No watching of TV during office hours
3) Hide electrical appliances during office hours, including TVs crazy
4) Warned us of getting into accidents, he said he arrested many drivers and put them into DB.
5) Stepping over OC. he is practically psychoing OC, and maybe one day takeover her, that would be hell then.
As part of NDP we had to use Sar21, but neither us nor the lao jiaos know it, as you need to go for handling test. CSM told us to clean the rifle and performed stripping and assembling of Sar21, which nobody knows. Bascially we hope things would be better after NDP.
This week damn shiong
One day, we had to top up the petrol of over 15 vehicles at the POL point, there is only 1 working station and not only we were queing including other units. After topping up, had to do vehicle maintenace. Then CSM told us to go another company to help out. When we reached, we saw many people carrying funpacks to the lecture room. The lecture room was already half-filled and stack till near the ceiling. There were 2 tonners, loading ard 2000 funpacks.
At night, we were still handling the vehicle log book, when our OC called to take some water from POL point. The laojiaos had already went to pack and collect the water, while we had to store the water in our lecture room. The first unimog came, filled with bottles of new water. Everyone was helping to load the new water into our lecture rooms. 3 unimogs were used, and they made over 3 tripes each = 9 unimogs. At least over 10 000 new water bottles were loaded. Next day, OC didn't even say a word of appreciation.
Thursday 8kn battalion run in the late afternoon. I on status so never run. During their warm-up the weather was scorching hot. Luckily everyone made it back safe and sound. Thta night, nights off are for those who passed SOC and ippt so only two persons book out. The rest were either playing bball or watching tv in mess.
Friday afternoon. As the lecture room was filled with new water our OC had a talk with us at the battalion lecture room. While waiting for her arrival, we were shown videos of our parade. The coordination of saluting looks impressive. Armour did a turret salute. Guards being on the LSVs had the most prominent closeup. Contingent from TP, had their bikes in a triangle formation and also the new Expressway patrol 3 Subaru WRXs. Civil defence had their rhino trucks spraying water. Towards the end, MP and TP bikes would speed down padang. With 1 TP WRX, 1 SCDF Rhino and 1 Guardsman from the LSV came down to salute the president before the end of our segment.
After watching this video, we could see all our efforts were not wasted. Approaching 15 reharsals, since Tuas to Padang. Every reharsal theres a story to tell. From the parade, food, sky and anything. We hoped KFC provide us every meals. well not to bad sometimes a 2pc chicken or a zinger burger. Pizza hut had 1 slice of pizza, 3 chicken drumlets and a ginger bread. At Padang, we were not so bored and weather isn't that bad, however we had to wake up earlier and travel so far. It seems like a Saturday picnic for us.
Complains, Tiredness, Joys, Laughters all in one. I felt very proud to be in this years parade, and its only once every 5 years and maybe once in a lifetime experience.
Whenever we are free, we would talk about who having the most possibilty of going trunk 2 company after NDP. 3 Specs and 6 CSOs would be going trunk 2. Nobody wish to leave us, since we had been together at SI until now. All the hardships and joys together.
However many people wish to go trunk 2 as
1) Our OC being lady, has given us alot of sai gang compared to other companies
2) The new very regimental CSM.
3) The detachment there is more relaxed.
4) No UIP
5) Even if fail ippt or SOC still can nights out.
The schedule and training programe of August is already out, for us to prepare mentally. After NDP, off till next Sunday night. Monday official start of UIP. 3 specs, 6 CSOs leaving. 2 exs for us. 1 major ex for the Battalion. Guard duties. Not bad this month got 6 days off, 10,11,12,22,23,24 Aug.
This Monday 1st August, would be a showzone reharsal at the Heartland location, Tampines, Yishun and Jurong. During the time of 1000 till noon. If you happen to be on the road, look out for tanks travelling along Bugis, Geylang, Bedok and Tampines.

1st and 2nd Combined NDP rehearsal at Padang UIP freezed shagged

23 June launch of Initial D
Bugged Kai to buy BF2 together so can play online, but he was rather broke liaoz LOL. Finally he is in PRO term, can book out on Friday. However before posting for course , he had to go Brunei for training. Good for him, he is going to be a logistic officer slack sial maybe 8-5, good for this slacker. As both of us Thursday got off, met him at Bugis and went Sim Lim. Played with his PSP, and the golf game was addictive. Bought the game, had dinner and talk cock about army. Later went Bugis to walk around and went home to install game.
First time bought game, gave me so much problem. Seems that the processing power is very high and the game always hang at the main screen. The account server also got problem. Trial and error, finally both of us created accounts can play liaoz. Not bad, but the map is huge can support 64 players. Then not like CS 1 man hero. This game need various land, air and sea transport to attack target.

Very luck, did not get any tix for collection of funpacks at heartlands or preview show, however managed to get a pair of tix for the final reharsal. Gave them to my mum and sis, hope they enjoy the show and hopefully could see me in the parade, haha impossible too far liaoz.
Went back home, they enjoyed the parade alot and the funpack were packed with goodies. Tidibits, flags, cymbals, cd-rom created by our 3 Signal Battalion, a voucher of discounts ...

Happening week fun, shag, angry, expressionless ...
Saturday night
Book into camp for next day NDP rehearsal.
Sunday
Woke up at 0600 in vest slack, go for breakfast. Draw arms (Sar21 wayang nabeh), long 4, sbo, helmet. Around 8 move off for Tuas. Rather fine weather not so hot, had 2 rehearsals before lunch. Lunch was great provided by KFC 2 pc meal ( 2 meat, 1 bun, 1 mashed potato) but without the ice cold pepsi. Went foranother rehearsal, before having dinner which was also provided by KFC. Wah sick of 2 pc meal liaoz, cannot eat already. By 7pm we all left for camp. Reached camp rather early, so no need to rush.
Monday
Nothing much, during our last parade, those involved in NDP were given nights off till 2230hrs. As most of us were tired, not many of us went for nights off. Spent the night playing Magic. At around 2230, most of the people who went nights off were already back in camp. As the book was not in company they could not sign the book in book out book. Later the book was at the coyline, so the DOO (Duty Orderly Officer) which is also one of our PC called them to sign the book. Some people took their time, and did not heard him calling.
HONG GAN he got so pissed he ordered the whole platoon to fall in downstairs in FULL BATTLE ORDER !!!(Full Battle Order consists of , long 4, sbo, helmet).
Man, i was already in my shorts slept for 10mins when I saw everyone running at the corridor and my bunkmates changing into no4. At that time, i thought this is serious. by the time reached downstairs, most of the platoon are in pumping position ... the rest you figure out for yourself.
Tuesday
8KM BATTALION RUN NABEH !!!
2 rounds perimeter fence and 2 rounds 30 SCE, very very tired and thirsty.
After lunch, prep vehicle and equipment for our platoon's first ever excerise. Most of the vehicle had been used for NDP, so we had lesser vehicles than usual which was good news. Our setting up would be in shifts instead of setting up for the whole day.
By the time, we had prep for excerise, went for dinner. Had an ealry night sleep
Wednesday
0530 went for breakfast in vest slack. 0630 fall in draw arms. Then it started to rain heavily so excerise postponed to a later time, so we went up to our bunk. The rain did not clear till lunch. Thank god this rained saved us from all the sufferings. Human reaction, tired sleep right, so everyone slept while waited for the rain to stop. The man as usual slept on the floor, as we were warned from sleeping on the bed. However the 3SGs slept on the bed. They were discovered by our PS.
31/37 Specs whole lot fall in Full Battle Order !!!
The specs were punished and guess, they wlll know why we, man never slept on the bed during office hours.
After lunch, the weather was cleared for excerise. So everyone fall in waiting for excerise to commence. As there was only six vehicles with 11 details, we could only setup in shifts. I was involved in the second shift.
After deploying, they started setting up. Every now and then you could details, unable to meet the timing and ordered to double the parade square with rifle. It had been since 4 months since we left SI, all our signals skills are rusty so all expected to double no choice lan lan have to double have to double. By the end of the first shift, everyone was drenched in sweat as though they just finished swimming. We went to had dinner before its our turn for setting up. Dinner was mee goreng, salmon pattie, chicken meat and sambal chili. No appetite to eat, wait have to double parade square.
After dinner, its the time for them to see us suffer. We were deployed at a ground which was downslope, muddy, uneven and dark. Had difficulty setting up and tearing down. Double the parade square twice, guess my PS was rather lenient to us, due to poor visibilty. After we tear down, excerise cut, we sighed a relieve can go back bunk and sleep. Rest, had night snack, PC 2LT Jason talked cocked with us, whilst waiting for another 2 more details to tear down. After everyone tear down, packed the vehicle and account for equipment we left for company. Sent arms, took a bathe and slept, the time was already 0100am, 4hrs 30mins later have to fall in for breakfast.
Thursday
After we had our breakfast, we had to fall in at lecture for an AAR by our PC 2LTA Noel. Everyone including our specs, the 2SGs were all half awake, due to yesterdae's excerise and our PC is still feeling energetic, officer. After debrief, selected few had to go for Pride Day, i was selected. Fall in smart4, took the tonner, and discovered we were going to SAFTI for the Pride Day. Reached there look at the exhibition and went to the canteen and left at around 10++. Selected few had to go for the NDP recce, so had to rush and pack our stuffs for book out. AFter packing, went for lunch and left for National Stadium in coaches.
Reached the Kallang KFC, already crowded with no4s. Later divided into Central, Western and Eastern. We attended the Eastern briefing. The main objective of the recce is for us to familiarise the NDP route from satdium to Padang to Tampines and to Selarang Camp. We were further divided into coaches where a Captain would brief us where to travel

Stadium -> Suntec -> Padang -> Esplande -> Raffles Hotel -> Bugis -> Lavender -> Kallang -> Geylang -> Paya Lebar -> Eunos -> Marine Parade -> Victoria JC -> Temasek JC -> Simei -> Tampines (Showzone) -> Selarang Camp -> Back to respective camps.
Still got another 4 of these recces.
After recce, we dispersed from Stadium. Anthony and Daniel went to my place to play games, before we went to have dinner, and they left back for camp. Now Saturday rehearsal, so Friday night have to book in liaoz.

MSET , UIP, NDP rehearsal shag
Very very very very long time never blog liaoz.
Maybe because I lazy, tired or really nothing to blog. Nevermind now typing a long entry.
Back to camp
Somewhere around April
After passing my driving test, I went back to Jurong Camp. After settled down, called us to go office for a meeting. Went to the office, then told us "GUARD DUTY" this Saturday . Isn't is that fast cannot enjoy our first Friday book out, after booking out on Saturday noons during driving course. Suay suay, me, Kelvin, Nelson and Lai tio guard duty. Friday book out with them, I went Jurong point for dinner and walked around then went back.
Next morning 0630 draw arms, then 0800 start duty . Damn Jurong camp is so fucking big, not only many places to prowl, you still need to scan many checkpoints, so that you are not skiving. 3 Details, First detail, 2 prowlers and 1 sentry. Second detail are desk duties, check all vistors bags entering and leaving camps, check under car for bombs and a shooter to protect the gate ic. Third detail would be resting first. Time passed very slow and damn shag. 2200 got a turnout and conducted a parade. Still remember that it was CHING MING, the next day going to pray my father and grandfather with my mom, sis , uncles, aunties and cousins.
Next morning after changing duties, sent arms, we bathed and packed to leave camp. I went to meet my mom at my grandma's house, after that my cousin drove us to the temple. After praying left home to rest, nabei tonight still have to book in camp. Its not worth doing guard duties on Saturday. You burn Friday and Sunday morning and get 2 points. However if you do on SUnday, you get 3 points and get to book in on Saturday night, and miss Monday morning activities.
For the subsequent weeks, my mates passed their driving tests and are coming back to suffer with us LOL. At the end of the course, only Si Yan and Xiang Xin still had not passed. We still haven't officially started UIP, so very slack other than battalion runs and PTs. But still no nights off and games.
MSET (Maintenace Skill Enhancement Training)
After around of 1 month at Jurong camp, our MSET date had not been decided as it clashes with our range date. The week before our MSET course, we spent 3 days cleaning our rifles thoroughly as there was going to be an inspection. This cleaning of rifle standard is much more stricter than in BMT. Cleaning impossible to reach parts. Our MSET date had finally been confirmed at Sembawang Camp, and we are not going to range. The best thing was that its going to be 2 weeks and STAY OUT !!! yahooooooooo can go home everyday.
Monday reported to Jurong Camp at 0730, had a short briefing and went for lessons. Typically this course teaches drivers how to maintain and repair their vehicles on a basic skill. As we are a special group of drivers driving the unimog, we were taught how to do maintence on Unimog and Landrover. The first week we changed oil, filter, tyres ... etc on the Unimog and Landrover on the second week. After MSET course, we are able to drive the Unimogs , though previously not able to drive even when we had our license. MSET course was short just only 2 weeks, and on the Thursday of last week, we were informed to return to camp on Saturday night for Sunday's NDP rehearsal sian ar.

Saturday by 2300 reported back to camp, not a bad thing as many people were involved. AFter unpacking, went to sleep. Next morning after breakfast, we went to the CMTL(Central Military Transport Line) to get our vehicles. Drove to our company, changed long 4, sbo helmet and got ready to move off to our rehearsal ground Tuas. That morning we could hear the thunderous roar of tanks from the 30 Singapore Combat Engineers in our camp. We felt like VIP as we had Traffic Police and Military Police escorting us to Tuas and even blocking roads for us. First time we could beat the red lights and not get caught LOL. Shit I was not the driver so no fun.
We reached Tuas and saw vehicles, bikes and tanks from Signals, Intelligence, Armour, Infantry, Artillery, Guards, EOD, Naval Diving Unit, Police and SCDF formations. First time seeing so many different types of tanks for different purposes. The vehicle that really caught my eye was not the tanks, but the "Armoured Bus" from Special Operation Command, Police. It looks like a upgraded and fiercer version of the Ang Chias, (Riot Police deployed at Orchard during festive seasons.). I also got to see the new Subaru WRX used by Traffic Police.
We had a total of 4 runs to be done on that day. Met some other friends also involved in the rehearsal. During the run, all the vehicles from different formations would travel to the "Grand Stand" where the president was siting and salute to him. The whole event lasted at around 9++, everyone was feeling very tired, tomorrow also having another rehearsal in camp. The TP and MP escorted the vehicles back and even blocked some of the expressways entrance. So I advised you all Sunday don't go Tuas unless working.
Monday morning all the formations came to our camp, as 3 Div is the organiser for NDP 2005. We had 3-5 runs of rehearsal. This time its rehearsal for heartlands, whereby on NDP after passing the President at Padang, we would travel to 3 heartlands , Tampines , Yishun and Jurong. I would be performing at Tampines, so on that day if you want to see me, look for Signals formation and the last vehicle. Most probably you couldn't recognise me as I would be putting on Camo, garang LOL. At the heartlands, each formation would be displaying their capabilities, so look out for us. Sundays would be burnt until NDP. Though long waiting hours and burning SUnday, we are given nights off, and a off day on Thursday to compensate our Sunday. Hope on NDP no vehicle breakdown, as I my role is to tow any vehicle broken down.
On Monday night after a delayed last parade at 8pm not the usual 6pm, our PS 1SG James and 1SG Lina had something important to tell us. Our UIP officially starts from tomorrow, don't know its good or bad news. During this period, huge emphasis on regimentation, discipline and excerises, in short tekan session and very very shag. For this week, had PT lessons, and maintence of our Unimogs to be in tip top condition for NDP.

Driving course
1st week, rover circuit driving
2nd week rover public road driving
3rd week 3 tonner public road driving
4th week 3 tonner cross country and advanced driving skills
5th week introduction to 5 tonner and first test for 3 tonner
I passed my test on my second attempt. That day, it was raining so heavily and visibility was so poor. When i came back, to do my parking, I was drenched, and eventually the tester passed me. Finally I can go back unit.
The next 2 days, we went islandwide driving in a convoy comprising of 5 tonners, rovers and 3 tonners. After islandwide, went to get my certificate and driving license.

Driving course starts
Last Friday, the tonner came to pick us from Jurong to Sembawang camp. When we reached there, settled some admin issues and was briefed about this course 5 wks long. As they had not expected our arrival, we were not allocated any bunks. After the briefing we left.
Monday morning, reached Sembawang MRT station at 645 waiting for Tiong. By the time he had arrived I was already late it was 710, as the briefing starts at 730. I met up with Tiong as he was working at Sembawang camp and knew how to get there. Reached the camp, and saw a long queue, the trainees were registering their names. After that we were divided into different groups and load up 2 coaches to Kaki Bukit Camp to learn driving.
After 30mins of journey we arrived. For today we are going to have theory lessons and tomorrow onwards practica;. At 6pm the coach came to fetch us back. Reached camp did area cleaning and tidy my stuffs. My buddy is a mortar driver from 5 SIR, and he was telling the stories inside his cmap. My bunk also have a commando and guards driver. The bunk layout is like HDB flats, so there are quite alot of trainees. My group 42 has 48 trainees, 50% from signals.
Everyday routine is wake up go breakfast, do area cleaning and wait for bus at 7am. Around 8am, lessons starts half would be having theory another half go for practical at another place. Theory consists of studying "Basic Theory" and a simulator. Practical consists of driving and parking. Friday had my "basic Theory" test also known as Highway code, after doing 600qns, getting full marks is nothing. Our group around 80% got 50/50 for the test, as a result we get to book out early on Saturday.
This tuesday I am going for my public road driving. After book out from Kaki Bukit, went home. Kai asked me out for dinner at parkway so met him at 6pm. Finally we had dinner at Joo Chiat eating curry fishhead. After dinner went to Katong to play LAN game, waitied for nearly 1hr before getting a seat. Then Long came over and drove us to Chomp Chomp for dinner. After dinner, we went driving at "haunted" places in Singapore. Reached home at 4am.

3rd Division Foremost and Utmost
Monday woke up and took train to SI so as to pack up for new unit. The tonner picked us at around 9.
We reached Jurong Camp 3rd Division, 3rd Signal Battalion. We fell in and were briefed the operations and requirements here. My OC is a lady captain, acting CSM a staff sergant, 2 1SGs my PS, one of them is a lady. The 4 companies are located at 4 corners of the parade square.
The company is 4 storey high, ground floor are the lecture, armstoke and storemroom. 2nd floor, is the coy office, 2 bunks for trainees , 1 bunk for SG and 1 messroom. 3rd floor are bunks for existing trainess and 4th level for officers.
As they are operational ready, we are to pass IPPT min silver (die) and pass SOC. Guard duties here are 24hrs and no exceptions even on holidays. In this camp there consists of Division HQ, 3rd Signal Battalion and 30 Singapore Combat Engineers. The food in the cookhouse are one of the best i ever eaten, lots of variety to choose. During the interview, my PS told me training would be tough, fast paced due to the division involved in NDP 2005 and preparation for ex in Taiwan next year.
We were allocated our bunks on the 2nd floor, same as the company office. There were existing 9 beds per bunk but we have 24 trainess, so we had to go the officers's bunk to move the bed to our bunk. After placing the beds, our bunk is very cramped and stuffy. In the night, due to the mosquitoes we cannot open the windows and had to depend on the 3 fans.
Next morning fall in for battalion run(5km), on Tuesday and Thursday a distance of around 5km around the camp. This would be our orientation run. The camp is very big and the medical centre is located at least 1km away. My OC and 2 PS accompanied us. I was appointed the platoon IC (SHIT !!!). Before meals would be chin-up regimes. There is a first parade, mid-day parade and last parade, where all announcements would be briefed company level.
UIP(Unit Induction Programme)
We are currently in the UIP period, where we are being treated like recruits, lost all freedom, march point to point, sing loudly, greet anyone higher rankings. 2 wks later, my driving lessons will start, follow on vehicle maintenance and then officially UIP starts around April. Around May then our UIP ends, where we get our beret and have more freedom. Like

This week, we were asked to travel to Orchard to take photo in CV. We were wondering would we be taking the bus or tonner. Imagine seeing a tonner stoping at Orchard road. Our tonner arrived behind borders where the camera crew from TP were waiting for us. Shooting started at 6pm, I was not inside as I was wearing black, and they wanted more colours, so stand there to guard. They were shooting a video for NDP 2005. We had packed dinner and left for camp at around 8.
Before book out, we were told to help out with an event. When reaching the division, there was a meeting among top military, police and cv personnels to discuss about NDP2005 preparations. When we had to clear the chairs and tables, there were at least more than 30 LTCs( 2 crabs), salute like siao. After clearing, went back for bunk inspection before booking out.
630 we left camp and took a shuttle to Boon Lay interchange.
Saturday went to meet up with Kai to watch movie "Hide and Seek". This show is full of horror, suspense and thriller.
Sunday need to book in by 2215, another tough week again.
